Stac Pollaidh West Buttress

On Friday afternoon I had a call from Adrian Crofton, BIGSTONECOUNTRY author and climber. He and Gordon Lennox had plans for climbing on Stac Pollaidh on the Saturday and I was able to meet up at the parking area below the mountain. I was there to take some pictures and the best will be kept under wraps for now but here are some that wont make the shortlist.
Adrian led the top pitch of ‘Mid Flight Crisis’, E4 – finishing up a jamming crack on the very edge of the western Buttress. Gordon had ideas to climb an E6 up the centre of the wall but on inspection the top was a bit wet and one of the 2 pegs for protection had broken and the other looked dubious. He settled for an E5 route called ‘Walking on Air’, which looked to be a blank holdless wall topped by some big overhangs. He climbed it in good style taking just 1 fall.
